I saw Jayden's story on NBC 7 news tonight and was not only saddened to learn about Jayden's death, but also inspired to see the work of this foundation come from this tragedy. Just a few hours prior, I was thinking about Stephen "tWitch" Boss and how we never know what people are going through, regardless of how successful or happy they may appear to others. Learning about this local foundation a few hours after that thought, I was happy to make a donation through my charitable giving fund.

I love the outreach and scholarship that this foundation provides. I've been looking for local foundations/charities to get involved with and was surprised I hadn't come across this one until tonight. I think the golf tournament being highlighted on the news will help bring awareness. I found the Instagram account for the foundation and started following it. It may already be in the plans, but I think leveraging social media and potentially sponsoring events for kids and young adults will increase reach, raise more awareness of the foundation and Jayden's story, and most importantly help individuals, and the families, of those struggling with mental health.

I did a quick google search and see there are a number of government, hospital, school, etc type programs to support San Diego youth in this area. However, I think your foundation, in honor of Jayden, has an incredible opportunity to make a difference. Someone I was very close to for many years is an ex-NFL player and a musician, and he struggles with mental health issues - so this is a cause I am very passionate about.

If there is anything I can do to help the foundation, in addition to making a donation, I am happy to be of assistance. My background is human resources and communications in life sciences companies and was active with patient advocacy efforts and employee volunteer programs. I am happy to help in any way possible. I am so sorry for your loss and thank you for creating this foundation to help others.

Hello Gillespie family,
My name is Trinity VanHorn and I am 23 years old. I am a San Diego native currently working for Sharp Healthcare and completing my 3rd year at San Diego State University as a Finance major. I came across the article on LinkedIn regarding the passing of your son Jayden which I am greatly sorry about. He seemed like a wonderful and ambitious student and son that only those who truly knew him would cherish so much. I would like the opportunity if granted to join your foundation as well, as I can relate to Jayden in such way. From the age 12 to the age 20, I dealt with Suicidal Ideation and Depression and did not know if I would make it to age 21. I dealt with mental health concerns for nearly half of the portion of my life and truly did not think much of life going into 2021 and 2022. In June of 2022, I became a donor for Sharp Mesa Vista’s BH-ICU as Mental Health is a topic that holds a great amount of value to my life. Especially as one who works in the Emergency Room & Labor/Delivery while having to face it in the perspective of our patients that come in. I know this might not mean much to you all but I am truly proud of everything Jayden accomplished within his time of being here. As a student and woman of color, we often lack the recognition of our accomplishments and success due to the color of our skin but I saw that he attended LMU and it instantly brought a smile to my face. I hope to have the opportunity to join the JTG Foundation and continue to ongoing legacy of Jayden. I hope you all have an amazing week.
